You can ask us to delete your Ekam account at any time. This page explains how, and what happens to the records a business must keep by law.
How to ask
- Email support@getekam.in from the email address you sign in with, with the subject "Delete my Ekam account".
- If you own a business in Ekam, say whether you also want the business closed (see below).
- We confirm by email and finish within 30 days.
If you only opened a link from a business and never signed in, you have no account. To have your details removed from that business's records, ask the business; if you cannot reach it, write to us.
What is deleted
- Your sign-in: the link to your Google account, your name, email and photo.
- Your mobile number, your phones and their push tokens.
- Your access to every business you were part of.
What is kept, and why
Bills, payments, stock movements and the change log belong to the business's books. GST law requires a business to keep them for at least 72 months after the due date of the annual return for that year, so they are not deleted. Your name stays on the records you made (for example, "recorded by"), because the books must show who recorded each entry.
If you own a business
Before closing a business, we send the owner a copy of its records. The business's books are then kept, locked and unused, for the period GST law requires, and deleted after that. Other members lose access when the business is closed.
